BUYEROS, N.M.
Louis F. 'Cowboy' MIERA , 75, of Santa Fe died Sunday following a short
illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin
and Amada MIERA; sisters, Flossie VELASQUEZ, Begina
ULIBARRI, Emilia MIERA; and several
brothers-in-law. He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Buyeros
and attended schools in Clayton. As a young man, he helped his parents
on their ranch. He came to work in Santa Fe as a repairman at Santa Fe Motor Co. in
the 1920s. He was employed there 27 years. He retired in
1979. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic
parish. He loved rodeos, horses and fishing. He was well known
for cruising in his Chevrolet pickup. He loved the children his life,
and they knew him affectionately as 'Grandpa Louie.' He is survived by
his wife, Angelina BACA of Santa Fe; children, Genevieve BACA, Celine MIERA, Fred MIERA and wife Reina,
all of Santa Fe; brother, Fermin MIERA and wife
Viola of Johnstown, Colo.;
sisters, Tillie GALLEGOS of Montebello, Calif., Elena CANDELARIA and Amada
GRINE, both of Norwalk, Calif.; five grandchildren, Rick Daniel TAPIA Jr. and
wife Diane, Fidel ARCHULETA, Christopher GARCIA, Phylishia
VELASQUEZ and Little Louie MIERA; four great-grandchildren; special niece,
Louisa RIVERA of Santa Fe; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation begins 4 p.m. today
at Berardinelli Family Chapel with a 7:30 p.m. rosary. Mass will be celebrated at
a time to be announced on Wednesday at St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will be in Rosario Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral
Service.
