Buck Duane ALLEN, 46, died Saturday, June 9, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Roy Baptist Church of Roy, with the Rev. John SPROUL, minister of Roy Baptist Church, and the Rev. Bill O'DELL, Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Solano Cemetery at Solano. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Allen was born July 20, 1954, at Tucumcari. He was the Harding County Extension Agent. Survivors include his wife, Lori ALLEN of Cliff; two sons, William Brent ALLEN and Slade Duane ALLEN, both of Cliff; a brother, Joe ALLEN of Burlington, Colo.; two sisters, Barbara ALLEN of Amarillo and Lanette VAUGHN of Missouri.

Benito PACHECO, 83, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Anne's Catholic Church and at 7 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Mosquero. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Mosquero Cemetery at Mosquero. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. PACHECO was born April 16, 1917, in Mosquero. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Survivors include six sons; Ben PACHECO of Las Cruces, Robert PACHECO and Joe PACHECO, both of Tucumcari, David PACHECO of Hobbs, Raymond PACHECO of Redlands, Calif., and Ricky PACHECO of Albuquerque; five daughters, Gloria RIVERA, Vickie PACHECO and Diana SANCHEZ, all of Albuquerque, Diana GONZALES of Tucumcari and Martha PACHECO of Grants; a brother, Joe PACHECO of San Jon; a sister, Luisa MONTOYA of Albuquerque; 31 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Sue Hight, 64, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy RAMMAGE, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hight was born at Roy. She graduated from high school at Farley in 1954 and attended beauty college in Pueblo, Colo., and had been a beautician in Clayton since 1957. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Tony D. "T.D." Hight in 1959 at Clayton. He died in 1988. Survivors include a sister, Alice MURRAY of Ontario, Canada; and two brothers, Barrett BEARD of Gladstone and Elmer BEARD of Abbott.

Macario "Mike" MATA, 84, formerly of Mosquero, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Tucumcari. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. today in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Guy Roberts of the church as celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot at Mosquero Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Mata was born in Gallegos. A Catholic, he served with the Army during World War II and worked as a rancher. His wife, Eloisa MATA, preceded him in death. Survivors include a brother, George MATA of Tucumcari; and a sister, Juanita CORDOVA of Clovis. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. today until noon at the funeral home and from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. today at the church.

Virginia "Ginger" SPEAR, 57, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died Saturday, November 18, 2000. She is survived by her son, Dean SPEAR and wife, Jennifer of Rio Rancho, NM, daughter, Cindy SPEAR of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, and Michelle SPEAR of Rio Rancho; mother, Catherine BLASI of Roy NM; brothers, Tony BLASI and wife, Peggy of Albuquerque and Chris BLASI and wife, Denise of Mammoth, AZ; and nephews. Virginia was a native New Mexican growing up in Roy, NM. She moved to Albuquerque in 1961 and raised her two children. Virginia worked for Mervyns Dept. Store the last twenty-two years as a sales representative. She enjoyed her work and those she worked with. Virginia was a beloved mother of two, grandmother, daughter, and a friend to many. She will be remembered for caring about others before herself. Services will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor John Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Scott SPEAR, Chris SPEAR, Chris BLASI, John BLASI, Paul BLASI, and Jerry LUSK. Andres G. "Tito" TRUJILLO, 84, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2000. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Guy Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Mosquero Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Trujillo was born in Mosquero. He operated his own business and was a rural mail carrier. He had served as mayor of Mosquero. He also served on the Mosquero school board and was Harding County commissioner. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dominga M. TRUJILLO, in 1993. Survivors include four daughters, Rachel SAINT of Milpitas, Calif., Rita LIND of Albuquerque, Theresa COPELAND of Wheeler and Elizabeth TRUJILLO of Santa Fe; eight sons, Andres "Andy" TRUJILLO of Tucumcari, Eddie TRUJILLO of Brush, Colo., Richard TRUJILLO of Thoreau, Freddie TRUJILLO of Cimarron and Joseph TRUJILLO, Jacob TRUJILLO, Raymond TRUJILLO and Thomas TRUJILLO, all of Mosquero; two sisters, Victoria SISNEROS of Pueblo, Colo., and Lucia GRAY of Duncan, Okla.; a brother, Nestor TRUJILLO of Bernalillo; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing today and until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Richard (Dick) Steele HORTON passed away suddenly in Albuquerque on October 28, 2000 due to a short but unexpected illness. Dick was born October 11, 1930 in Roy, NM. He grew up in Albuquerque and married Dona MITCHELL in 1950. Dick operated his construction and painting business in Albuquerque, moving to Silver City and retiring in 1988. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Allene of Albuquerque. He is survived by wife, Dona and was the proud father of his three surviving children. Terri COFFMAN and her husband, John of Edgewood, Scott HORTON and his wife, Rebecca of Tijeras, Lori DAHLSTROM and her husband, Ken of Las Cruces; he has six beautiful grandchildren, Jason, Casey, Heather, Kimberly, Avery and Bradley; sister, Linda LUNDEEN and husband, Gerry of Las Cruces; sister, Charlene HORTON and husband, Loren of Houston; and brother, Philip HORTON and wife, Marcia of Silver City. Anyone who knew Dick loved his joyful sense of humor. He was a very giving man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. This showed through his children and grandchildren. Dick gave his time to help others, and did small jobs for his church. He was active with the white signal square dance club. He was an incredible bridge whiz, a frustrated fisherman, and hiked many miles with a group of his friends. Dick was loved by many and will be truly missed. May God be always with him. A brief service was held Sunday, October 29, 2000 at St. Johns United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at First United Methodist Church in Silver City. Gertrude B. CRUZ, age 92, passed away August 24, 2000. She was born in Roy, NM, but grew up and spent most of her adult life in Mora. Gertrude was a homemaker but had many outside interests, especially her love of the outdoors, she loved her camping and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernardo F. CRUZ; her sons, Ralph A. and Albert R. CRUZ; her parents, Luis BRANCH and Francisquita MARTINEZ; sisters, Rosalie E. BRANCH and Adela B. MAESTAS; brothers, Ralph BRANCH, Alex BRANCH, Richard BRANCH, Octaviano and Ricardo BRANCH; and twin grandsons, Lloyd and Floyd CRUZ. She is survived by her daughter, Frances M. MOYA and husband Guadalupe; son, Barney F. CRUZ, Jr. and wife Terry; daughters-in-law, Harvey Linda CRUZ and Patricia CRUZ. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Margaret BECKMAN, Anita MARTINEZ, Raymond MOYA, Roselyn TURNER, Patricia CRUZ, Barney CRUZ III, Richard CRUZ, Albert CRUZ and John CRUZ; 13 great grandchildren: Randy, Ryan, Kristi, Carrie, Joslyn, Alyssa, Marisa, Kalina, Barney IV, Ann, Katherine, Zachary and Chloe; and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends, both in the Mora Valley and Santa Fe where she spent her winters. Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited at Cristo Rey Church on Friday, September 15, at 6:30 p.m.&nbps; A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Gertrude's Church in Mora on Saturday, September 16, at 10:00 a.m., with the interment of her cremains at Cleveland Cemetery following the Mass. Joe Rumaldo FUENTES, 79, formerly of Dalhart, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, in Dumas. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Hass Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Mosquero, N.M., by the Rev. Guy Roberts. Burial will be in the Mosquero Cemetery. Mr. Fuetnes was born in Genova, N.M., near Gallegos, N.M. He moved to Dalhart in the 1950s and worked at the ice plant. He worked as a veterinarian's assistant at Dalhart Animal Hospital and then worked for Mr. and Mrs. Webb Whorton until 1961. He was living in Stratford at the time of his death. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1985 he received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal from Pope John Paul II. Survivors include a niece whom he raised, Viola KAUTZ of Stratford; a brother, Frank G. FUENTES; a sister, Mary VELASQUEZ of Liberal, Kan.; three grandnieces and grandnephews; and six greatgrandnieces and great-grandnephews. The family suggests memorials be to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church building fund in Stratford or Coldwater Manor's special unit.

Harry Kenneth KINGSBURY, 74, of Stanley, passed away on August 25, 2000 at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque. Mr. Kingsbury was born on July 3,1926 in Mosquero, New Mexico. He was a retired police officer, having worked a Patrolman for the Albuquerque Police Department, Chief of Police in Clovis, and finally before his retirement as Chief of Detectives for the Bernalillo Sheriffs Department. Mr. Kingsbury was also a rancher. He married Christina KNOERR on March 2, 1956 in Las Cruces and spent a wonderful 44 years together. Funeral services for Mr. Kingsbury will be at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2000 at The Stanley Union Church in Stanley with Rev. Thompson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before at the church. Committal services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Mosquero Cemetery in Mosquero, NM with Rev. Turpening officiating. Mr. Kingsbury is survived by his wife of the home; a son, Kenneth MUSGROVE of Stanley; his daughters, Rebekah MORRIS of Dumas, TX and Karen LEWIS of Stanley; his mother, Ellen KINGSBURY of Stanley; a sister, Helen GRAHAM of California; his grandchildren, Jacob LEWIS, Jerry MORRIS, Selena MORRIS, and Julie MORRIS. He also leaves a host of other family members and many friends who will miss him dearly. Pallbearers for Mr. KINGSBURY will be Kenny MUSGROVE, Dale LEWIS, Jacob LEWIS, Jim McDONALD, Eddie MONTANO and Steve HIENS. Cornelia VIGIL, 91, formerly of Mosquero, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, in Amarillo. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. CDT Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Amarillo by Deacon Hector Gallegos. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. CDT today in the church in Amarillo by the Rev. Hector Madrigal and the Rev. Rosendo Herrera. Another Mass will be at 11 a.m. MDT Thursday in Mosquero High School Gymnasium by the Rev. John Brasher and Deacon Edward Olona. Burial will be in Mosquero Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle in Amarillo.
    Mrs. Vigil was born in Mosquero. She lived there until moving to Amarillo 15 months ago. She was a homemaker. She married Ignacio VIGIL in 1927 at Gallegos. He died in 1980. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Carmelita VIGIL and Irene VIGIL; and by two sons, Petronilio VIGIL and Gilbert VIGIL. Survivors include four daughters, Eva RAMIREZ of El Paso, Texas, Betsy CORDOVA of Amarillo, Charlotte MARTINEZ of San Jon and Carmen RUIZ of Clovis; four sons, Petronilio VIGIL and Ignacio VIGIL Jr., and Fernando VIGIL, all of Amarillo and Ralph VIGIL of Mosquero; two brothers, Margarito GARCIA and Adolfo GARCIA, both of Mosquero; three sisters, Alice GARCIA of Hobbs and Maggie PACHECO and Dora GARCIA, both of Mosquero; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Louis F. 'Cowboy' MIERA , 75, of Santa Fe died Sunday following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin and Amada MIERA; sisters, Flossie VELASQUEZ, Begina ULIBARRI, Emilia MIERA; and several brothers-in-law. He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Buyeros and attended schools in Clayton. As a young man, he helped his parents on their ranch. He came to work in Santa Fe as a repairman at Santa Fe Motor Co. in the 1920s. He was employed there 27 years. He retired in 1979. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic parish. He loved rodeos, horses and fishing. He was well known for cruising in his Chevrolet pickup. He loved the children his life, and they knew him affectionately as 'Grandpa Louie.' He is survived by his wife, Angelina BACA of Santa Fe; children, Genevieve BACA, Celine MIERA, Fred MIERA and wife Reina, all of Santa Fe; brother, Fermin MIERA and wife Viola of Johnstown, Colo.; sisters, Tillie GALLEGOS of Montebello, Calif., Elena CANDELARIA and Amada GRINE, both of Norwalk, Calif.; five grandchildren, Rick Daniel TAPIA Jr. and wife Diane, Fidel ARCHULETA, Christopher GARCIA, Phylishia VELASQUEZ and Little Louie MIERA; four great-grandchildren; special niece, Louisa RIVERA of Santa Fe; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Visitation begins 4 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel with a 7:30 p.m. rosary. Mass will be celebrated at a time to be announced on Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
